The effects of cancer are much more than emotional and physical on an individual, it can also be financially devastating for patients and their families.

The Cancer Support Fund was established to help with this financial burden. The oncology department staff at Heywood Healthcare Hospital in Gardner or Athol, or Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center in Fitchburg have applications available and will act as a liaison between our board of directors and the patient requesting assistance in order to maintain patient confidentiality.

An example of the type of services we provide include:

• Gifts cards for gas, groceries or prescriptions 

• Financial assistance for purchasing needed medical equipment

• Financial assistance for mortgage, rent or utility payments

• Financial assistance for medical copays or insurance bills

• Financial assistance for restorative services

• Financial assistance for massage, reiki, yoga or other complimentary care services recommended by the patient's care team

Applications are reviewed and assistance will be determined on a case by case basis.
